A year ago, I sat on a plane on the first day of Autism Awareness Month and watched five straight hours of CNN coverage. I remember being deeply impressed by the commitment of the CNN staffers, some of whom had children on the spectrum themselves.

Yes! Yes! Enough with the awareness. I really do wish we could skip right over the nonsense. We.Are.Aware. Now how about some tolerance? Some accepting? Some kindness and human decency?

My daughter is the most sensitive and empathetic person I know.
Stick that in your DSM-IV, people.
As for acceptance? It's got to pay forward, and we are doing the yeoman's chunk of the work. Government? Ahem?
